The range

We offer wines in the Loire style, that is to say with a lot of freshness, finesse and without too much extraction during vinification.

Wines made by the winegrowers above all: We hand harvest and sort the grapes on the vine with our partner winegrowers and at Domaines Amirault and Grosbois.

We vinify the harvested grapes ourselves, without additives and use only natural yeasts from our vineyards.

We carefully monitor the vinification and the necessary viticultural activities (racking, tasting the separate cuvées etc) and the ‘elevage’ of each wine in our range.

Our wines are certified 100% organic, biodynamic or more recently “Vin Méthode Nature” in the course of conversion to AB*.

The primary goal is to respect and preserve the grape as much as possible, to bring in a healthy harvest and offer wines that are tasty, fine, and which delight the greatest number of people.

Our terroirs
Women and Men of Character, who reflect their terroir.

We scrupulously respect the regulations of our AOP and 100% of our wines are produced from grapes that are Organic (AB) or in course of conversion to Organic or Biodynamic, from French vineyards only. Our wines are produced essentially from the appellations of Chinon, Bourgueil, Saint-Nicolas de Bourgueil and Gaillac.

Our Ligerian appellations

Three appellations produce the “king” of the Loire variety: Cabernet Franc. Each with a specific terroir bringing complexity, depth and style of wine, differentiating each appellation from one another.

AOP Chinon

Soils: sandy and gravelly alluvial plains, Turonian limestone, and certain patches of limestone and clay with flint.
Grapes: 100% Cabernet Franc
Viticulture: Vineyard work according to the specifications of Organic Farming. The precepts of Biodynamic Agriculture are applied there.

AOP Saint Nicolas de Bourgueil

Soils: three units of terroirs: silty gravel, sand & gravel and tufa, limestone, sometimes covered with flint clay or sand.
Grapes: 100% Cabernet Franc
Viticulture: Vineyard work according to the specifications of Organic Farming. The precepts of Biodynamic Agriculture are applied there.

AOP Bourgueil

Soils: One appellation but two terroirs! a first made up of sand and pebbles, a second made up of clay-limestone Tuffeau.
Grapes: 100% Cabernet Franc
Viticulture: Vineyard work according to the specifications of Organic Farming.

AOP Saumur
Champigny

Soils: One appellation but a multitude of terroirs. Soils rich in limestone and a dry and hot micro-climate.
Grapes: 100% Cabernet Franc & Chenin Blanc
Viticulture: Vineyard work according to the specifications of Organic Farming.

Our South-West appellation
Gaillac or Vin de France:

AOP Gaillac & Vin de France

Soils: Located on the right bank of the Tarn, not far from the village of Cestayrols, this is where our Gaillac and Vin de France come to life. The first Côtes for the reds are on clay-limestone soils, and our whites on the Cordais plateau, also on clay-limestone soils.

Viticulture: 100% of the vineyard is conducted in Organic Agriculture, both our white and red grapes. The vineyard is also carried out under the practice of semi-vegetation, avoiding soil erosion in winter and spring, amending the soil without external additions and naturally decompacting the soil. Mating disruption is also practiced to restrict the maximum use of insecticides in the treatment of the vine.

Our white wines

Grapes: Colombard and Mauzac.

Our red wines

Grapes: two indigenous grape varieties: Duras and Fer Servadou.
Two international grape varieties: Merlot and Syrah

What’s the difference
between AOP / IGP and VDF?

PDO:Protected Designation of Origin

AOP is the European equivalent of AOC (Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée). It protects the typicity of a wine on a given terroir. Strict specifications define the authorized grape varieties, yields, vinification methods, etc.

PGI:Protected Geographical Indication

Formerly called Vin de Pays, the IGP protects wine-growing know-how in a geographical area. Also governed by specifications, it nevertheless offers more flexible regulations than the AOPs, particularly on the choice of grape varieties and yields.

VDF :Vin de France

The category of Vins de France has replaced that of Table Wines since 2009.
Unlike AOP and IGP, Vins de France concerns wines without geographical indication. This category offers great freedom in the elaboration of wines. The name of the grape varieties and the vintage can now appear on the label.

Les vins de France at Amirault-Grosbois

This freedom allows us to reveal the artistic sensibility that drives our profession as winegrowers. By practicing lower yields we promote the taste and aromatic qualities of our wines. As with our AOP wines, we vinify our Vins de France with native yeasts and create blends that resemble us to offer generous wines that are always representative of their terroir.
